U.K. court rules in favor of heiress on prenuptial deals
The case hinged on whether a prenup signed by Katrin Radmacher, a paper industry heiress with a fortune of at least $82 million, and French investment banker Nicolas Granatino could be upheld in Britain. English law has generally not recognized such deals — but Radmacher prevailed in an argument over whether this should change.
“For Nicolas and I, in our homelands — France and Germany — these agreements are entirely normal and routine,” she said in a statement. “We made a promise to each other that if anything went wrong between us, both of us would walk away without making financial claims on each other. The promise made to me was broken.”
